Questions answered
Pavix on damp concrete?
Q. Can I apply Pavix CCC100 to a damp concrete surface? Client request.
A. To get optimal value from Pavix CCC100 it must be applied onto a clean and dry surface. Pavix works by capillary action so the dryer and cleaner the surface is, the better the absorption of the Pavix.
Rapid airport repairs?
Q. How should I treat severe cracking in asphalt pavement. An added problem is the short window that we can allow for working on the taxi-way before having to hand-back to Traffic Control. Airport Engineer request.
A. Maxi-Crete F is able to withstand aircraft movement within hours of application. Maxi-Crete F is quick to install and capable of bearing even the heaviest of all aircraft. A small trained crew can install up to 200 linear metres in a single shift.
Concrete pot-holes?
Q. My concrete pavement is suffering from deep (up to 100mm) pot-holes particularly at the corners of the slabs. How can I repair these in a fast and cost effective way? Engineer request.
A. Maxi-Crete 40 would be the most suitable materials to use in this case. Installed in layers of between 20 and 40mm to the finished level, Maxi-Crete will allow the concrete to expand and contract (approx 25mm) without deformation. Once installed Maxi-Crete will not break-up and become a danger to road users.
Coating v impregnation?
Q. What is the most effective way to treat concrete intermediate floors in a Multi Story Car Park? Why should I not use a coating rather than an impregnation on my concrete floor? Structures Engineer request.
A. Floor coatings can be very expensive and can very often delaminate if incorrectly installed. Generally speaking the top deck of a MSCP is treated with good quality coatings while the intermediate levels are ignored. In many cases, a high level of corrosion takes place in these lower-decks due to the carrying-in of water ladened with salts etc. An impregnation treatment tends to cost less than a coating and cannot delaminate while at the same time completely protecting the steel reinforcement in the concrete.
Which anti-graffiti?
Q. When using an anti-graffiti treatment which one should I go for? Client request.
A. A lot will depend on where you are intending to use it. If you expect minor vandalism to occur, then a Sacrificial AG could be suitable. However, if the treated surface is expected to be defaced regularly requiring constant washing and cleaning of the surfaces, a non-sacrificial treatment would be better.
Highway quick cure?
Q. We have areas of asphalt surface that are showing signs of early deterioration. The asphalt in general is only 3 years old and in good condition, these problem areas are fairly small, how can I best treat? Highway Engineer request.
A. TextureScreed is the fastest and most effective treatment. Able to treat minor pot-holing and areas of stone loss within the carriageway. Quick to install and will cure within 20 mins ready to open the road for users.
"Maxi-Crete is in my mind the best concrete repair system available. Speed of application, very fast curing times and ease of use makes Maxi-Crete a sure winner for us"
